In memory of "Whizzer"

Our beloved pet, friend, and family member passed away on January 16, 2008 after he struggled with stomach cancer. Whizzer brought our family so much happiness and peace in our every day lives. One of my favorite memories of Whizz was how he would hold his bowl in his mouth as a way to tell you he was hungry. He let you hug him when you were sad, and he listened when you needed to talk :) Whizzie will be forever missed and can never be replaced. We love you and miss you!

We're Moving!

We're going to Colorado Springs! After a long interview process and much anticipation, Wayne was offered a position as the assistant manager of the new Carmax being built in Colorado Springs. Although we will miss our family and friends back here in Utah, this news has truly been an answer to our prayers. We are traveling out to Colorado over my birthday to do some house hunting with a provided Carmax realtor. The big move is planned the last week in March so that Wayne start his new position on April 1st. We are also planning a going away party some ime in March for all of our family and friends to attend. We are SO excited and feel very blessed for this wonderful opportunity!

The Meadow!

This picture was taken on the Mallard Lake trail on the way up. You can see a beautiful meadow behind me where we would have loved to see a deer or two. The entire way up this hike you could see how the fire in the 80's ripped through the trees, leaving them charred and naked. The fire allowed all kinds of life to start over and spring forth more beautiful than ever.

Mallard Lake

Mallard Lake is a beautiful lake about 4 1/2 miles from Old Faithful (In Yellowstone National Park). We backpacked in an stayed the night right on the shoreline in this very peaceful setting. There was the occasional beaver and of course mallard duck, but other than that we had the place all to ourselves. I snapped this photo just before we sat down to eat our freeze-dried fried chicken and potatoes.

Ok, so I'm re-capping our Yellowstone adventure(s) from this past August. I have all of or pictures on a disk now so that we can tell you all about our crazy adventures in the park!

VROOM!

I love my newphews! Trevor is 3 and just loves anything with wheels! We went out to dinner for my mom's birthday and the airplane came along too!

How Newphews Can You Fit into a Suitcase?

Wayne's sister Tiffany came from New York a few weeks ago. Her suitcase was downstairs in the kitchen area when our nephew Josh discovered that it made a great toy! We wheeled it around with him zipped inside...and even took him up the stairs in it!

It's Already been 4 years?

This is the exact spot where Wayne proposed to me on August 9, 2003. He pretended to trip and while on the ground pulled out the bling! I love visiting this spot because it brings back to many happy memories of that night! Happy Anniversary on January 9th!

Snowshoeing in Wyoming!

We took a 3 mile snowshoeing journey into the wilderness on Christmas Eve. We stopped when we came across an area where a bear was hibernating for the winter. Bears usually find and area right at the edge of the tree line, and near an open meadow where they have plenty of room to chase their dinner in the Spring. They also strip the bark off the trees around them to mark their territory. I can't believe how many bear encounters we have run into this past year!

Showshoeing is a lot harder than it looks! The person in front does most of the working while trudging through knee-high power. We traded off who lead the way while enjoying absolute silence and the wonderful smell of the 20-30 feet tall Christmas trees surrounding us!

The Best Christmas Present Ever!

I've always had my marathon medals just hanging on a push-pin stuck in the wall. Every time we opened to bathroom door it would swing into my medals, leaving them with all kinds of scratches and dings.

Wayne surprised me on Christmas morning with this beautiful shadow-box that he had spent numerous hours making for me! He would sometimes "disappear" to his dad's house for a while where he was borrowing all the tools to finish the masterpiece.

This is absolutely without a doubt the best Christmas present that I have ever received! If you look close enough there are a few extra hooks...for more future marathons! Thanks for making it the best Christmas ever Wayne!

Christmas at Temple Square!

Wayne and I just love Temple Square at Christmas time! After eating at our favorite Italian cafe, "

Litza's" we decided to take a stroll downtown to the beautiful lights at Temple Square. Although it was absolutely FREEZING we still had a good time!
